Cisco VPN Error reason 442: failed to enable Virtual Adapter on Windows 8.1 - Step by step with screenshots

Situation: The client installed Cisco VPN client V 5.0.07.0410 on her new Windows 8.1. When trying to establish the Cisco VPN, she receives this error reason 442: failed to enable Virtual Adapter.

Resolution: This is known issue. To fix it, run reedit. Go to Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CVirtA, change the value data from @oem8.inf,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter to Cisco Systems VPN Adapter. Try it now.
